Coastal Villages Seafoods, LLC (CVS) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coastal Villages Region Fund (CVRF), established in 1999 to operate fish plants in the Kuskokwim Region. CVS operates halibut plants in Chefornak, Hooper Bay , Kipnuk, Mekoryuk, Toksook Bay and Tununak. CVS also operates a salmon plant in Quinhagak and a buying station in Bethel in order to process wild fish coming from the Kuskokwim River.
Coastal Villages Seafoods is the flagship program of CVRF, structured to create employment and economic opportunities for Kuskokwim region residents.
Each year, hundreds of residents are employed as seafood processors and hundreds more are able to support themselves and their families through commercial fishing. Without our participation, there would often be no buyer for these fisheries and there would be no processing jobs in our region.
Coastal Villages Region Fund is a thriving, non-profit community development organization; one of six western Alaska groups allocated a share of the rich Bering Sea fishery through the Western Alaska Community Development Quota (CDQ) program.
CVRF is a membership organization consisting of 8,500 residents living in twenty communities from Scammon Bay to Platinum. CVRF’s sole task is to provide economic and community development centered on one of the very few marketable resources identified in our region…fish. |
